My name is Revd Andy Green and I am an Associate Priest in Worcester Diocese licensed to St Egwins Church Norton and Lenchwick and All Saints Church, Evesham. I retired from my full time role as Lead Chaplain for Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust in October 2023 where I led chaplaincy for 14 hospitals. I still continue as a Volunteer Chaplain.
St Egwins Church is very much Roma, Traveller, Gypsy friendly and we enjoy a thriving and positive relationship with local Travellers many of whom have loved ones buried in the Churchyard. We have just managed to install toilet and kitchenette facilities and we have plans to hold monthly informal tea/coffee/cake gatherings for the Traveller Community. I have a very active funeral Ministry through which important Traveller links across South Worcestershire have become established. I see this as a tremendous privilege and to have gained the trust of so many from the Traveller Community is quite special. I also now have the support of a member of the community who works alongside me as a family liaison point of contact to assist with offering further pastoral support beyond that associated with funerals.
I am delighted to be a member of this organisation and look forward to working alongside friends and colleagues in supporting Roma, Gypsy, and Traveller Communities.
